Deep scars are not fully addressed by Potenza alone; we recommend combining it with the scar combination program.

01Overview

Potenza RF microneedling that treats skin problems at the root

Potenza is an RF microneedling treatment that delivers radiofrequency energy to a precise depth within the skin through fine needles.

How we approach it

The same device can be run very differently. This is how Grays approaches this treatment.

Potenza can work in both monopolar and bipolar modes, and adjusting needle depth lets the target be individualised.

Rather than simple Potenza on a single parameter, we work in multi-layer focusing according to the goal of treatment and each person's skin condition.

02What to expect

Changes over time

Because energy is released only at the needle tips, it selectively targets sebaceous glands in acne, vessels in redness, and scar tissue — with minimal damage to the surface.

Right after treatment01

Right after treatment

Redness and fine crusts are possible. Makeup is often fine the next day.

Days 3–702

Days 3–7

Every 3–4 weeks03

Around three sessions at this interval, with the change accumulating.

Follow-up04

Follow-up

We assess the response in acne, pores and scarring, and adjust the combination and intervals.

Mild redness and stinging are possible. Do not rub — cleanse gently and moisturise well.

If fine crusts form, do not pick them off. Letting them fall away naturally is what prevents pigmentation.

07FAQ

Frequently asked questions

Is Potenza a laser? How does it work?

Potenza is not a laser; it delivers radiofrequency (RF) energy through fine needles (microneedles). Energy is released just at the needle tips, treating the desired depth within the skin while reducing damage to the epidermis. It can use both monopolar and bipolar modes, and the needle depth is adjusted to suit the goal.

How does it work on acne?

It delivers energy selectively around the sebaceous glands, working to reduce the cycle of sebum production and recurring inflammation. If inflammation is active, the treatment sequence is adjusted according to its severity. Response varies depending on the acne condition and the individual.

Does it help with pores?

Yes, it stimulates collagen regeneration in the dermis and is used to improve pores and skin texture. We recommend a course of sessions rather than a single treatment. Depending on the cause of enlarged pores, it is sometimes combined with other treatments.

Can it be used for depressed scars or redness?

Yes, by changing the tip it is also applied to depressed scars, redness, and flushing. However, Potenza alone is often not enough for deep scars, so we recommend combining it with the Scar Combination Program. Which tip and depth to use is decided after confirming your goal at consultation.

Does it hurt? Is anesthesia used?

Pain is moderate, and topical numbing cream is applied before treatment to manage discomfort. The treatment takes about 30-40 minutes. How much pain you feel varies by area, settings, and individual.

Is the downtime long?

Typically, redness or fine scabs may appear for about 1-3 days. Many people can wear makeup the next day. For a few days after treatment, the skin may feel red or rough.

How many sessions do I need, and when will I notice results?

We typically recommend about 3 sessions at 3-4 week intervals. Change often becomes clearer over about 3 sessions than after 1 session. Response in acne, pores, and scars varies by individual, so we adjust intervals and combinations as we monitor progress.

How is it different from Smoothbeam?

They differ in energy type and the range of concerns they address. Smoothbeam is a 1450nm diode laser that delivers heat to the sebaceous glands, focusing on recurring acne and sebum control, while Potenza uses microneedle RF to address a broad range of concerns, from acne and pores to scars and flushing, depending on the tip. When acne and scars coexist, the two are sometimes planned together, and the choice follows the consultation findings.

Can I have it together with other treatments?

Depending on the goal, it is sometimes planned together with the Scar Combination Program, Smoothbeam, Juvelook, and others. Whether to have them on the same day or space them apart is decided after consultation, considering the load on your skin and your recovery. If you are already receiving other treatments, please let us know at your visit.

Are there cases where Potenza is not suitable?

Caution is needed if you have an implanted electronic medical device such as a pacemaker or defibrillator, or metal or electronic implants in the treatment area. It is also not recommended if there is an infection or wound in the treatment area, or if you are pregnant. If you are prone to keloids, be sure to tell us at your visit.

What are the side effects, and how should I care for my skin afterward?

Redness, roughness, or fine scabs may appear for a few days after treatment. Do not pick the scabs; support recovery with gentle cleansing and plenty of moisturizing. To protect regenerating skin, apply sunscreen of SPF30 or higher every day.

How much does Potenza cost?

The cost depends on the type of tip used, the treatment extent, and the number of sessions, so it is confirmed after consultation. General reference prices can be found on the price list on our website. Consultations can be booked via Naver Booking, our KakaoTalk channel, or phone (+82-51-710-1891), and are also available via LINE.
